Wow! That's perhaps the best "yard bird" I've heard about for a MD yard list! Gonna be hard to beat that. Henslow's Sparrow, damn good, but Yellow Rail? Wow, mindblowing.

My best is Northern Shrike, but still....

Last night my husband and I were awaken by a tick, tick,....tick, tick, tick 
epeated over and over again!  Trying to focus, I was going through possible 
enaorios - did my recorder come on automatically to Yellow Rail?  No, it would 
ave played once and shut off.  Cricket?  No, never heard one like that.  My 
arrot?  No, I trieed moving toward it and left the sound.  The sound was coming 
rom outside my bedroom window.  When my husband turned the light on it stopped 
nd started again for about 3 more minutes after the light went off.  Believe it 
r not - I had a Yellow Rail in the yard last night!
