I was out doing stream monitoring this morning at SERC. First stop was Frog Canyon which is along the Discovery Trail. As I was finishing switching out my collection bottle, I heard a loud, up down, sputtery song coming from up the creek about mid-canopy. I tried in vain to find the source of the song as it moved from the creek bed upslope toward my truck then eventually further up Muddy Creek. County bird for me! This is the first spring Connecticut Warbler for me. Seen plenty of them in NW Ontario but only a handful in Maryland.

At another stop, along Cumberstone Road, had a singing Kentucky Warbler. It was interesting comparing the songs of KEWA and CONW. If only there had been a Mourning Warbler to round out the group.
