After the unsuccessful field trip for the Henslow's Sparrow, Kim and I took the dog for a walk around Eden Mill to look for Prairie and Blue-winged Warblers. Susan Hood had informed us that a Mourning Warbler was banded there yesterday, but it was still a bit of a shock to hear one (it?) singing as we walked along the trail! We tried very hard to get a look at it, it's been years since either of us have seen an adult male Mourning, but were unsuccessful. Pishing did rouse a few chip notes out of it, but mostly it just sang from deep in the tangles. I was able to record it singing though:

Also at Eden Mill, the usual Prairie, Blue-winged, and Chat were singing away. A Yellow-throated Vireo was singing over the parking area.

At our house during the Henslow's search, we had a nice selection of birds including Grasshopper Sparrow, Willow Flycatcher, Black-throated Blue Warbler, Blackpoll Warbler, and Northern Parulas.

Good birding!
