Catching up on a few local sightings.

Thursday, May 17 at Piney Run Park - checking on the eagle nest - both
young are on the edge of the nest or perching above it and could fledge any
day; also saw one adult by the lake. There were two Common Loons on the
lake, an adult and an immature.

Friday, May 18 at Cranberry Reservoir - 5 Canada Geese and an adult Common
Loon. In the Liberty Watershed off Bollinger Mill Road I heard a Swainson's
Thrush singing, a Louisiana Waterthrush was carrying food, and I saw an
immature White-throated Sparrow, probably my last of the season. In the
evening on Liberty Lake off Oakland Road were 7 Canada Geese, 2 immature
Common Loons, a breeding-plumaged Horned Grebe, and 5 lingering
Double-crested Cormorants.

Saturday, May 19 at Morgan Run NEA - There were 5 Willow Flycatchers
singing. Three of them were alternating the 2-note and 3-note songs, the
latter sounding remarkably like an Alder Flycatcher song. Warblers were 2
Ovenbirds (heard only), 2 Louisiana Waterthrushes, 1 Northern Waterthrush
(heard only), 4 Blue-winged Warblers (heard only), 1 Kentucky Warbler
(heard only), 20 Common Yellowthroats, 1 Hooded Warbler (heard only), 2
Yellow Warblers (heard only), 1 singing male Chestnut-sided Warbler, 1
Prairie Warbler, 1 Canada Warbler, and 1 Yellow-breasted Chat (heard only).

Today, May 20 - at home a singing male Yellow Warbler which is a migrant
here.
