The following is the Broad-winged Hawk species account from Marshall
Iliff's 2001 unpublished "SUBSPECIES KNOWN FROM MARYLAND" ...
Broad winged Hawk (Buteo platypterus platypterus)
This is the only subspecies known from the U.S.A. The dark morph is
more common in western birds and is unreported in Maryland. The
MD/DCRC requests documentation of any dark morphs reported in Maryland.
... so, yes, the MD/DCRC would welcome a report/photos.
