I took it upon myself to start up an Anne Arundel Birding Facebook page last year, mostly to spare my personal Facebook friends from all of my (far-too-frequent) bird-related posts.

It was created independent of the MOS chapter of the AA Bird Club, but after a short time, the club adopted it (sort of officially sanctioned it ), as their FB presence. Fact is, it brought in some new members and was a place to spur interest in birds and birding. Bird enthusiasts of all skill levels are able post comments, ask questions, report sightings, post videos, post photos, post links, etc.

It has generated interest of new birders, been used as a tool for conservation, education, news and updates... and of course been a place to alert folks of county bird sightings.

MDOSPREY is still THE source for MD birding and bird alerts. But the AA Bird Club Facebook page has expanded the online possibilities here in our little neck of the woods, marsh, brush, field, forest, beach and mudflats (not nearly enough of those mudflats!).

And if you don't like the idea of a Facebook site dedicated to local birding, the best part is... you don't have to visit the page! ;)

Good birding,

Is there any way to allow more (or unlimited) numbers of people to join MDOsprey? Just in the last week I had three unrelated enthusiastic birders tell me they can't get on the list and seemed quite sad and disappointed.
