&s=article_du&ed=2012-06-01 indicates that homes that are near national
wildlife refuges have a higher home value than other homes. The study was
commissioned by the US Fish and Wildlife Service and conducted by
researchers at North Carolina State University. Dan Ashe, the director of
the Fish and Wildlife Service, is quoted as saying: "These findings remind
us that refuges also boost community health, sometimes in unexpected ways,"
he said. "National wildlife refuges enrich local communities - even in a
lean economy - and generate revenue."
