Subject: [MDBirding] Wheaton Regional Park today

Hi all,

A pleasant if a bit slow morning at Wheaton Regional Park. Barry and I met Woody and Rae Dubois at the parking lot and we four birded the scrubby areas beyond the carousel and down along Pine Lake. Activity was limited, with only one small feeding flock, and scattered individuals. An obvious decline in flycatchers (no Empids, fewer Pewees) and a small influx of Yellowthroats, but we managed to scape up 8 species of warbler. We enjoyed close views of a Northern Waterthrush that, apparently oblivious to our presence, teetered along the edge of the lake where a small stream comes in, bathing, flicking leaves, and looking for his breakfast!
