Passing along some Calvert County bird info:
Lisa Bierer Garrett (from the MD Birding Facebook Group) observed one today in the North Beach Marsh.
Also, special thanks to Ranger Kate Mason for finding, and of course, Ranger Matt Grey and Ranger Adam Smith for getting the word out about the WHIMBREL at Fort Smallwood Park. The bird hasn't been seen since this morning, and our man Tim Carney is on the scene at Swan Creek keeping an eye out at that shorebird hotspot... but for the time being, Kate's fantastic find, on a WHIM, just might have up and flown away. But, there is always 'hope', right? Didn't get that last one? Read this: http://www.wm.edu/news/stories/2011/whimbrel-successfully-negotiates-most-severe-part-of-hurricane-irene123.php
