Subject: [MDBirding] Sunday

I got to spend several hours birding on Sunday and visited both Fort Smallwood Park and Fort Armistead Park. I was happy to view a few rare birds including White Winged Crossbills, a Red-Headed Woodpecker and a Long-Tailed Duck (all at Fort Smallwood). Also saw many Buffleheads and Lesser Scaups. Afterwards took the short drive up to Fort Armistead Park in hopes to see the rare Harlequin Duck. We spent around and hour there with no success. However we did see a female Pine Warbler while wandering around the old for remains. While there, another birding couple told us that the Harlequin Duck had been spotted earlier in the day by many others but that a speed boat had passed through which scared him out of viewers sitelines.
