Subject: [MDBirding] Snipe Hunting at Oxbow Lake (Photos)
After getting some additional info from Marcy (thanks!), yesterday (April 2)
I went to Oxbow Lake for the first time. From the north end of the
Primitive Trail where it goes down to lake side level, I counted 24 Wilson's
Snipe foraging along the eastern side of Gallinule Point. Here is one image
that includes 9. This is a very large "Pano Style" image. You may not want
to view this from your phone.

Some beautiful light on the water just after dawn... While I was surveying
those 24, a distinctly separate flock of 35 flew to the back wide (western)
of Gallinule Point:

As Marcy suggested in a recent post or eBird report, the more you look the
more you see :-). I'm still studying a couple of hundred survey images to
see if I can add to my 24 count, but at this point it stands at 59. I
started around 7:15am. By 9:30 or so they were getting scarce and when I
left at 11:15 am I did not see any, nor did I see them fly out because I was
down at the southern end of the lake.

Also got some images of 4 Caspian Terns, and 20 Blue-winged Teal in flight,
among other things. And a curious Raccoon in the marsh.

Thanks again Marcy, for keeping us up to date on the Sniping!
