Subject: [MDBirding] Blue Jay call
While doing a yard walk early this morning, I heard a short (1 to 2 seconds) low pitched guttural like rattle. I found a Blue Jay to be the source. I watched it open its bill and bob while it made this song. At first I thought that this bird had a bad sore throat, but then I heard the same sound coming from a different location. I did a search on xeno canto and did find a recording of the call.

for anyone who has never heard this call (including me), this is the xeno canto web site: http://www.xeno-canto.org/98814

ps: no Dark-eyed Juncos at the feeders this morning.
