Clearly heard the Common Gallinule trumpeting multiple times between 4pm and 8pm from the densest reeds along the southwest edge of the wetland impoundment. Definitely not the coots or grebes doing their spontaneous calls. Other good birds: American Bittern singing, Least Bittern which flushed, Soras whinnying, Virginia Rails calling and running around (photos), Marsh Wren, Common Yellowthroat, late Ring-necked Duck, both teal, Wilson's Snipe, Purple Martin. Only "specialty" bird we missed was King Rail, which we heard yesterday. This was easily the best visit I've ever had at Swan Harbor.

Susquehanna SP was also good this weekend, with Blue-headed/White-eyed Vireos and Prairie/Prothonotary/Black-and-white Warblers as highlights.
