I saw 2 White-winged Crossbills in West Towson during my lunch walk.
The birds were on Woodbine Avenue 100 yards north of the intersection of Woodbine and Allegheny. Both were feeding in a tall, cone laden Red Spruce tree (just north of a White Pine). Luckily, the birds descended very close to me. I saw the female at about 25 feet and the gorgeous male was a few feet higher. The broad white wing bars and the upside down feeding on the cones cinched the ID.
Also, in the same tree was a Red-breasted Nuthatch.
