Crossbills on the wane?

I spent about an hour today (Sunday Feb 8) at the Pine Knob Road site
from about 11:30-12:30 without seeing any crossbills. Talking with other
birders it sounds like the area was well-covered from about 8:30 until I
left, and there were only one or two fly-overs of Red Crossbills. I also
explored the residential area about 2 miles south near Melville and
Oakland Roads where I saw Red and White-winged Crossbills last weekend,
without success.

This was the first weekend I have not seen crossbills since before
Chrismas. Was anyone more successful this weekend?
