Fully support the idea of showing our appreciation when we traipse through someone's yard to see a particular bird. Offering to leave a contribution on feed upkeep or taking the person out for a meal, when appropriate would be a small way of saying THANKS. I hark back to just this past Jan. 17&18 when a group of us MOS-MCC birders went to the Outerbanks and parked on two successive days in an owners back yard and even on his back steps to get views of the two male and two female painted buntings at his feeders. He didn't mind and came out to talk to us. In the future, I will suggest to the group that we pitch in and leave a donation or invite him to dinner. Sam Freiberg Chevy Chase, MD
