This is an excellent idea that should be taken to heart and followed up on
by us birders (and other out-of-doors enthusiasts to help sustain the
wildlife populations and ensure continued access to private lands.

Actually, there are two aspects to this.  The first aspect is preserving
suitable habitat and healthy populations, especially of the neotropical
migrants and other species that are in decline.   This can be done through
support of any of the various conservation organizations and the Teaming
With Wildlife proposal that is being fostered by many of the sonservation
groups and the various state resource agencies.  The second aspect is, as
was suggested, some tangible recognition to the property owners who
tolerate us trampsing around on their lands.
