Dear Norm,

I don't know how anyone can answer this question without saying
something that will sound like Jane Fonda, but yes, there IS something
about that part of Baltimore. Having lived in Baltimore for many years,
and having had relatives (BY MARRIAGE) and some friends who lived in
Eastern Baltimore County....yes, there is something. It is certainly
more of a "red-neck" area than you would expect for a major city. It is
a very patriotic area, lots of motorcycles, boats, and beer. I say this
not by way of judgment, but by way of description. Outsiders are
noticed. This is the kind of area where kids don't get into serious
trouble, but they aren't exactly taught manners, either.

On the other hand, I've noticed that kids in Montgomery County can be
pretty obnoxious when they want to be, so maybe it's just that old
observation, "I don't know what's the matter with these kids today."
