Unlike many other northeastern hawk watch sites, Snickers Gap has its biggest
days with east winds. All except 102 birds were seen after 2:30pm hawktime
(EST). The biggest hour was 15:00-16:00 EST with over 10,000 birds. I still
do not have all the details regarding conditions or hourly distribution. I
apologize to the sites further south for not getting word out sooner.

The wind was east again, blowing about 5-10mph. The early morning found a low
ceiling, with about 1 km visibility. However, birds were moving. The first
few hours had a couple hundred broad-wings or so, per. The clouds began to
lift around late morning. The peak hour was 511, that was 2-3 EST. The
osprey totals from both days were decent numbers for us. The sharpie number
from today is a good September number as well.

I will post a weekly report on Sunday, 20 Sep 98. Unless something unforseen
happens, like this cold I nursing becomes much worse and I do not get out of
bed.
