In hopes that the storm would return Conowingo Dam to some semblance of its former glory, I made a brief stop late this afternoon. The weather has brought in some gulls. I estimated about 7500, the vast majority adult Ring-bills. There were also 3,000-5,000 above the dam but I wussed out, not being dressed for the cold, and did not check them. There was several small generators working and gulls were actively feeding below the dam. It may not be former glory, but there were a few of the better birds. Iceland 1-2 1st winter Lesser Black-backed 2 (1 adult, 1 2nd winter) Bonaparte's 25 Common Black-headed 1 adult Presumably the birds are more active in the morning and tomorrow's field trip shoudl eb fun. Very, very cold, but fun. Rick "A great many people now reading and writing would be better employed keeping rabbits."
