Hello, I have a bird report from home for once. I haven't seent a hawk from or near my office since the hungry Cooper's Hawk feeding on top of the delivery van last month. Yesterday afternoon as I was walking next door to deliver a Post Office misdelivery notice that had been mistakenly placed in my mailbox, I saw a small blue-backed hawk zoom across the street in to a neighbors yard, about four to six feet above ground, trailed respectfully by a crow. While I am not sure what species it was, I suspect it was a/the Merlin that Rick Sussman sees a half-mile hawk flight away. The time was about 10 or 15 minutes before sunset. A new yard bird, sort of! Rob Rob (Robert) Hilton--robert@csa.com--Bethesda, Md. (very close to Washington, DC) "She goes around, opening the doors"--Kristen Hersh
