Hello all, I thought maybe I was alone in my observations today, but having just spoke to Kurt Gaskill it seems to be more widespread. My commute into work today, at about 9:30, roughly 20-25 miles, yielded about 20 hawks. There was one red-shoulder, perhaps 12 red-tails, and the rest were kestrels. Typically I only see about 10 hawks. Most of these birds were either perched in trees, or actively hunting. I figure they were looking for a little breakfast before a long flight. Kurt reported several hawks this morning as well, including 7 red-tails over Huntley Meadows. Makes me think I should take a run up to Snickers Gap and see if anything is moving over the ridge. Happy hawking, Todd Day Jeffersonton, VA BlkVulture@aol.com
