I went birding this morning in Susquehanna SP, on the trail at the corner
of Craigs Corner and Stafford Rds.
Tons of warblers, two great sightings have me tickled to death!
First a Prothonotary landed on a tree right next to me, eye level, and if
my arm had one more hand length to it, I could have touched it. I ended up
watching it glean bugs for almost 20 minutes. Later, I watched another
Prothonotary try to enter two different holes and be chased away by Downy
WPs.
Then on the way back to the road, down by the wooden bridge, I spotted
two birds, the first one a male Cardinal flying into a bush. The second, I
assume was a female, but she looked awfully brown. I put my binos up just
to make sure it was a Cardinal, and my binoculars happened to land square
on a Blue-winged Warbler down in the bush!!! I couldn't ask for a more
serendipitous lifer!!!
Other highlights that I saw: Ovenbird, RE Vireo, WE Vireo, Orchard
Oriole, BTGreen Warbler, Parula, Yellow Warbler, Palm Warbler, and a
gazillion Butterbutts.
