Hi Fran,
I am an ex-scuba diver and a present offshore fisherman. As a
fisherman 80 to 100 miles offshore, I usually get slightly sick
depending on the swells/wave action, so the least affecting remedy is to
take only 1/2 of a Dramamine and you will not get so sleepy but still
not get seasick. I just came back from Lake Ontario, NY and I used 1
Dramamine pill. It made me sleepy-but I took it 4 hours before leaving
the shore and once onboard no side effects at all. So if you take take
the D pill 4 hours prior to leaving you will be fine.
The patch is nasty for me. I get anxious and also DRY mouth. I also
do not eat any food that contains any fat before going on board. Once
on board if I were to get ill I will not eat at all.
The funny thing if I run my own boat I NEVER get seasick!
