Steve, You're right about Monday/Tuesday. They do not offer tours on these days. You've probably seen the tour info at: http://svinet2.fs.fed.us/r9/hmnf/hmdoc6b.htm I read that Kirtland's Warblers can be found quite reliably on the tours. If you know the habitat, though, there are some areas that are decent, but not prime through which you can drive. This part I am passing on as second-handed information. BIRDCHATter Mary Beth Stowe saw them last year on her own in late July (after the tours were already ended for the season). She posted good information on BIRDCHAT and it is available on-line at the BIRDCHAT archives. She got directions from the Grayling Tourism Office on where a visitor can go to try to see the birds legally. The address for her message on-line is: http://listserv.ccit.arizona.edu/cgi-bin/wa?A2=ind9807E&L=birdchat&P=R 1599 Note that the above got wrapped and should all be on one line. If you have problems with this, you can refind the post via the archives at: http://listserv.ccit.arizona.edu/cgi-bin/wa?S1=birdchat Search for Kirtland. Subject contains Kirtland. From and To dates should be 30 July 1998. Good Luck! -Greg Miller Baltimore, MD
