To anyone who wants to view chimney swifts funneling: come to Reisterstown, MD. I have seen the swifts twice this week going into a chimney in the rear of the Masonic Temple at the intersection of Main Street and Chatsworth Avenue, in "downtown" Reisterstown between 7:35 and 7:55 PM. It's great fun showing them to grandchildren and other family members. You could do as we've done: stop in at the Friendly's next to the Masonic Temple for ice cream, leaving in time to see the birds. We discovered them by accident. Ironically, in previous years I have gone to Westminster, Baltimore, and, yes, Reisterstown, looking for them, with no luck. We had Tennessee Warbler, Blackburnian warbler, Common Yellowthroat, and Black-throated Green Warbler in the pecan tree next to our deck on Tuesday about 1 PM and lots of chippies. I also have a Cardinal with a black head. Phyllis Grimm Reisterstown, MD
