Norm

I found you latest ABA bashing comments, " Why am I not surprised? Dues keep going up and what is
offered keeps getting shabbier. Maybe it is time to dump this organization?", offensive.

As I said in an earlier comment privately, if you are unhappy, do something productive. I do not share
your opinion and have yet to see you contribute anything. The magazine continues to be one of the
leading birding magazines you can get and your unsupported comments are unwelcomed.

The latest issue of Birding has several excellent articles that will help me follow my passion of birds.
The Night-Heron article will help readers trying to understand the difference of the young birds in the
field, the delayed plumage article on Orioles helps clear up identification of some confusing birds you
are likely to see, the tropical island conservation article once again remind one of the need for habitat
preservation throughout the world, the county listing article could have been written about Marshall, Jim
or myself but points out the need and desire to understand our local birding arena and the utility of
understanding habitat, media coverage of birds - ask Jane and Tyler, the photo quiz on wrens could
help people heading into the little brown bird region of identification, the cowbird point-counterpoint
issue was educational, choosing a tripod - something I need to do and timing for me, etc. Besides the
magazine, there are many other services like assistance to young birders, aba sales, etc.

Norm - take a hike. If you want to drop your membership, do it, but do it quietly.

Sorry MD Ospreyers. If influential opinions are to be published, equal time should be provided. The
characterization ABA as shabby is incorrect.
