Hi All: Well, it`s official, we are now well past our best season record in 1996 of 5,600 birds with 5,990 for the 1999season so far. Do we hear 7,000 for the season?? That should be doable with some good buteo flights in November. Anyways, a total of 389 raptors this week. Highlights: In the non-raptor department, 50 BRANT flewover the hawk watch on 10/23, a very good sighting for Cecil Co. Marcia Whitmyre tallied the 2nd GOLDEN EAGLE of the season on 10/25. Falcon flights are all but over, with only 1 MERLIN and 3 KESTREL this week. Accipiters for the week were SHARPIES 162, and COOPS 12, with a high percentage of adult birds being seen. The lone OSPREY of the week came through today at 11:30 am. 24 BALD EAGLES, 43 RED-TAILED, 18 RED-SHOULDERED, 107 TV, 8 BV 4 NORTHERN HARRIER and 6 unidentified made up the balance of the count.
