Hi all -- We had the MD/MOS field trip to Lilypons and environs today -- had about 55 species, but we undoubtedly missed a few things in the early morning (thick!) fog. Most interesting were decent numbers of both American Tree and White- Crowned Sparrows at Lilypons, a single Fox Sparrow, great views of three Purple Finches feeding on berries, Greater Yellowlegs and Hooded Merg in the ponds near the bridge, two Snow Buntings with the Horned Larks along Oland Rd. (in corn stubble), and a nice Harrier quartering the fields. We didn't make it down to Lower Monocacy Bottom Road, as one has to walk in through Lilypons and the fog made us slower than usual, so not sure if any Rusty Blackbirds are lingering there.
