A quick walk around the Tidal Basin, DC Veteran's Monument
and Constitution Gardens produced the following:
Lots of Ring-billed Gulls and Canada Geese everywhere,
plus
At the Tidal Basin, a few Herring Gulls and fewer
Greater Black-backed Gulls, several Double-crested
Cormorants, and 2 Pied-billed Grebes.
The area of the DC Veteran's Monument was strangely empty,
other than a flock of a few dozen American Robins, and
At Constitution Gardens, today's 'hot' spot,
a Herring Gull and a Greater Black-backed Gull,
a Great Blue Heron, a couple of Double-crested Cormorants,
and a flock of Dark-eyed Juncos.
   Not a stellar day.
A Cooper's Hawk has been hunting on the Mall this
week, but I missed it today. In the last couple of weeks
there has also been a Red-tailed Hawk on the Mall, but I
haven't seen it this week (both of these are immatures).
                        Jim
