The Baltimore Department of Recreation and Parks announced at a meeting on
May 6, 2004 that the Lake Roland (Robert E. Lee Park) bridge will reopen
Memorial Day Weekend (Sat May 29?) and stay open until the start of bridge
re-construction, probably October (earliest). Then the bridge will be closed and under
repair for about a year (estimate).

It seems that the Parks people wanted to give the circular entry area (called
peninsula) a rest. They aerated the soil a bit, but have no money for new
plantings or erosion control at this time. Credit the dog walkers for the fact
that the bridge is now to re-open for the summer. The dog walkers put lots of
pressure on the City and City Council.
