This morning while atlasing we were delighted to find a pair of VIRGINIA RAILS with a very large chick. They were quite vocal and let us observe them closely for 15 minutes. We also heard at least 2 BOBWHITE and flushed an adult bird. It was a great morning with many other species.
I will take any interested county listers out tomorrow to see the rails and hear the bobwhite. I do not plan to spend more that 2 hours. Meet me at the Chatham Rd McDonalds on Rt 40 at 5:30 AM if interested. Knee boots an absolute must and be prepared to get soaked from the chest down. Very difficult walking!
