Good morning, everyone!

The birds seem to be loving this weather as much as I
am. Working in the yard yesterday, I could see all
sorts of activity going on around me. Titmice at the
feeders (including young ones apparently being fed by
their parents), Chickadees, Red-Bellied Woodpeckers,
Great Crested Flycatchers, Mockingbirds, Yellow-Billed
Cuckoo, Grackles, a Robin that I saw carrying food a
couple of times, Cardinals, some very young...the list
goes on. Oh, and a Hummingbird at the feeder. Around
sunset I was serenaded by not one, not two, but three
Wood Thrushes. I'm used to hearing them from a
distance, usually out in the woods near the house.
But to have three actually in my yard, singing...wow.
I hated to go inside. This morning I could hear a
Cuckoo right over my head. And the Titmice,
Chickadees, House Finches, Goldfinches, etc. were busy
feeding.

Now for the other half of the e-mail. I've been
reporting off and on from my lunchtime walks in
Crownsville, but that will be coming to an end very
soon. The hospital is closing, and I'm being
transferred to Springfield hospital, in Sykesville.
That's okay, I don't have much of a Carroll County
list yet - good time to get started, right? My first
day there will be this Wednesday. I'd love to hear
from folks around there - I need my lunchtime birding
fix! It's a beautiful campus, so I might not even
have to leave to go birding...but on the off chance
that I do actually get tired of it, could people
suggest places that I can get to (and back) on my
lunch hour? Piney Run is close-ish, but I don't
really want to pay a fee to get in for half an hour...

Thanks a lot!
