Rick,
I always thought a day or two spent at Patuxent River State Park
might be productive after the passage of a cold front. I'm talking
about the section of the park where Georgia Avenue crosses the
Patuxent. South of the parking lot is a rise and we used to
speculate that sitting near the top of that rise during the right
conditions would probably yield a small but steady flow of migrant
raptors. Remember, the Howard County folks used to (may still)
mount hawk watches along the shore of Triadelphia Reservoir, near
Pigtail and that's only a few miles southeast of the section of the
park I'm suggesting.
Best,
Norm
