While making a last visit to my old condo building on Van Ness near Connecticut, NW, I saw a wave of about 10 Common Nighthawks fly by, fairly high up (much higher than the circling Chimney Swifts feeding lower down).  Last year around this time, this happened several times when I was returning home in the evenings; this was the only time I saw them pass over the building this year.

A bit later, while walking to my new house from Friendship Heights, I saw the swirling Chimney Swift show at the Metro bus garage, which was reported last week.  Quite a spectacle!  A few nighthawks were passing above the swifts as well; I noted at least three in the brief time I stopped, though there may have been more.
