I just saw a deceased Yellow-billed Cuckoo at 23rd & Q Streets NW, in DC (east end of Dumbarton Bridge). Cause of death wasn't apparent. I thought this was late for that species, but the yellow book says November 22. They're such handsome birds, I was sad to see it cold and stiff.
I noticed that there were 2 front- & 2 rear-facing toes, which I'd never been close enough to see on a live cuckoo.
