The first two bird species of 2005 were the same as the last of 2004 (that
were heard on the river at about 11:45 PM amid the fireworks being lit by
the locals)...no surprise! From my porch looking at Jug Bay this morning,
and around the yard:

Canada goose
Mallard
American goldfinch
House finch
Belted Kingfisher
Cedar waxwing
Carolina chickadee
Red-bellied woodpecker
Fish crow
Northern cardinal
Northern pintail
Red-winged blackbird
American robin
Carolina wren
European starling
American crow
White-throated sparrow
Red-tailed hawk
Northern mockingbird
Red-shouldered hawk
White-breasted nuthatch
Coopers hawk
