Purple Finch (m&f)

Hi Tom,
Where exactly did you see the Purple Finches? They should not be anywhere
in the county this time of year, especially a pair.

Our MBC group ended with 62 species. We had a pair of Wood Ducks and a
Spotted Sandpiper on the big pond, as well as at least 5-6 Willow Flycatchers in
the park. Great looks at Yellow-breasted Chat singing and displaying, best-ever
(said 2 participants) of a pair of Scarlet Tanagers down really low in good
light in the woods, Barred Owl coming close to the wood edge in response to
my calls, and perhaps our best find, a Belted Kingfisher confirmed for the
atlas, carrying a fish off and away from the big pond to a nest somewhere beyond
the park.

We did some atlasing while there, confirming, as well as kingfisher) about a
half dozen species yesterday morning.

Next MBC trip there is the first Saturday in July.
