After running a miniroute for the Atlas in northern Baltimore Co. this morning (June 18) I drove through Gunpowder Falls S.P. and heard a BLACK-THROATED GREEN WARBLER singing where Falls Rd crosses the Gunpowder falls about 1 mile below the Prettyboy Reservoir dam. It's in safe dates and outside the normal range for this species - I wonder if it has a mate.

One or two other records of interest from my past couple of weeks travels around the state include:
June 6 - Boat trip around Fishing Bay WMA with George Adams
Saltmarsh Sharp-tailed Sparrow: 6 together by Transquaking River halfway between Bestpitch and Fishing Bay. Also Eastern Meadowlark and plenty of seaside Sparrows singing here and elsewhere in the marsh. At Snake Island (just south of the mouth of the Blackwater River) a late 2nd yr male American Redstart. On Blackwater River below Shorter's Wharf were a male Bufflehead and a female Common Merganser.

June 15 - Savage River S.F.
2 different broods of Ruffed Grouse on steep slope south of Crabtree creek, 1/2 mile and 1 mile SW of Savage River reservoir.
