There were 43 Killdeer, 1 Solitary Sandpiper, and 3 Spotted Sandpipers in
it. The west pond is still full. I also stopped at the ponds in New Windsor,
Carroll County where the main pond has only a few small pools of water
remaining. One Green Heron, 20 Killdeer, and 2 Least Sandpipers were there.
Bob,
The big pond at Blue Mash today held only 2 Spotted Sandpipers. I did
however confirm Cooper's Hawk carrying food for young, and it was being chased by
crows well into the woods. Also I watched a female Belted Kingfisher cough up
a bolus, presumably of fish scales, etc. First time I have ever seen one do
this, though I'm sure it must occur regularly.
