Hello,
The Dickcissels found near American Corner, southern Caroline Co. are still present. The birds were first found on 6/11 as described in a previous post. On 6/26, one male was singing heartily, but had relocated to the north side of the road (the original field planted in soybeans). The bird is now 0.4 miles east of American Corner on Auction Rd in a pasture (with cows) at "Nice Farms". The pasture has a border of young deciduous tress along the road, but there are gaps for viewing. It is bordered on the west side by a triple row of white pine. A brief stop on 7/2 yielded no Dickcissels.
On 7/10, a single female Dickcissel was seen for 20 minutes, but no male was heard or seen. The female was seen first in a small cherry tree near the road, just west of the white pines and then sitting in the pines. The female only sat and preened and never offered any activities indicating breeding. But her presence seems to make this a solid 'Probable' (moreso than just a singing male).
If anyone is in this area, I ask that they stop by and check on this bird. I would greatly appreciate any help in confirming this bird. Thanks in advance.

Good Birding,
Glen Lovelace III
