Five people accompanied me this morning at Rock Creek
Park, Washington, DC. It was a gorgeous day, clear
and calm, but rather slow; we had to scour hard for 40
species. Temperatures ranged from about 54 degrees at
the start to near 70 after 10 am. The lone Nashville
Warbler, a lovely and cooperative bird, was a lifer
for one participant. A pair of pewees were feeding at
least two young, and we saw an Empidonax flycatcher
with a strong yellow wash on the breast and belly that
might have been a Yellow-bellied Flycatcher. The
warblers were: Nashville, Magnolia Warbler, Blackpoll
Warbler, American Redstart, and Common Yellowthroat.
Honorary warblers were the Red-eyed Vireos and
Baltimore Orioles.
