The stakes have been there for a while, although they were not very
conspicuous. The last time I was there a homeowner came by and was
curious about what we were all doing. We told me that there were plans
to take some of the accumulated soil out of the pond to increase its
ability to handle storm water. If they do a sloppy job or leave the
edges alone, it may be OK, but if they are thorough we may lose the
birds, at least until some more soil washes in. I have no idea how long
that might take.
