Fellow Ospreyers,

This is posted for Gerald Winegrad, AABC Program Chair.
This Friday, November 4, at 8 p.m., Tony White is presenting EXTINCT AND ENDANGERED SPECIES IN THE BAHAMAS at the Anne Arundel Bird Club meeting at Arlington Echo Outdoor Education Center. Tony is a former President of the Anne Arundel Bird Club
Here's the background on Tony's presentation:

EXTINCT AND ENDANGERED SPECIES IN THE BAHAMAS.

Tony White, an expert on the birds and other wildlife of the Bahamas, will present fascinating stories about the extinct and endangered species of birds and other wildlife in the Bahamas. Tony will cover such Bahamian fauna as an extinct giant flightless Barn Owl, giant tortoises, seals, and other birds, mammals, and reptiles. Tony White notes that perhaps the islands slogan should be changed from "It''s better in the Bahamas" to "Life is tough in the Bahamas." Tony is author of the Birds of the Bahamas and is a retired Naval Officer and former Anne Arundel County resident and President of the Anne Arundel Bird Club (early 1970's) and MOS state President in the 1980's. He also served as President of the Audubon Naturalist Society. Tony currently divides his time between Bethesda, Maryland and Nassau, Bahamas. He spends much of his time researching and writing about birds in the Bahamas, but he also serves on the boards of the American Birding Association, the Ornithological Council, and the Bahamas National Trust. He chairs ABA''s Recording Standards and Ethics Committee, BNT''s Wildlife Committee, and the Bahamas Avian Records Committee.

Arlington Echo Outdoor Education Center is on Indian Landing Road in Millersville, MD. From the Baltimore area, take I-97 south to exit 10A Benfield Blvd. East.   Echo sign. Turn right into the center.
