it may have made its way into the area for shelter and then died from it's 
concussion - i have been working our local wildlife hotline in northern virginia 
the past two days, and there have been four woodcocks with concussions , two 
in washington, dc and two in northern virginia - one died, and three are fine 
- they migrate at night, flying very low, get disoriented and run into 
buildings and windows - i am always amazed when people find them right on the street 
in downtown dc - and a friend of mine found one in new yourk city on park 
avenue in midtown last spring - christie huffman
