Late report from a Saturday night foray in the park, pre-Christmas Count check-in for my regular owls.
Great owling weather - clear, cold and no moon. Location varied in the park, exact locations not disclosed to protect the owls.

Heard Barred Owl at a distance calling on its own, and got a single response to a played tape just after dusk. One large bat flew in and circled a few times. This bat seemed to be as large as a Screech Owl.

Tried for a Screech before dark and got a few return calls, but no visible appearance. Returned to Screech location after dark, and got full fly-in fun, perching and returned calls.

Strangely, saw no deer. 1 Red Fox, no Coyotes.
