Kevin Graff wrote me to ask about a problem with the list he has
noted this week:

I'm taking the liberty of responding to the entire list because this
has been a growing problem over the past month.

Kevin,

There seems to be a problem over the past three weeks or so of
grossly overzealous spam blockers. The listserv people say it is
the problem of the mail administrators not effectively administering
their spam blocking software and the mail administrators say it is
lsoft's problem for not contacting them all individually to
straighten out the mess.

Of course it isn't lsoft or att or yahoo that get hurt, it is you
and me and the other clients of these companies who collectively
give not a damn about us.

I was kicked off MDOsprey myself late last week and haven't yet been
able to begin receiving any of the administrative e-mails I normally
saw daily from lsoft regarding the list. ATT refuses to talk to me,
saying that lsoft needs to deal with them.

This has only been a problem, as I said, over the past 3-4 weeks.
Several companies selling anti-spam software to the big ISPs have
suddenly come out with grotesquely over-aggressive algorithms,
knocking out many, many legitimate e-mails. Who gets hurt? Me and
you, Kevin, and all the other folks who are getting booted from the
listserv because of this uncaring attitude of both lsoft and the
isp's.

Complain long and loud to your ISP if this is happening to you and
tell them they are not taking an adequate responsibility for their
operation.

I know this is a discouraging and for the most part unhelpful
message, but I am feeling discouraged as are you.
