This morning a group of Howardbirders+ did our annual "Start Your List" walk. After sorting through a nice group of waterfowl at Centennial and finding a Goldeneye among the Ring-necks, a Snow Goose among the Canada Geese and assorted other ducks and mergansers we headed out to the west. Strangely enough the trip seemed to take us to a variety of sparrowy spots. I think the group took pity on their poor sick and voiceless leader and humored her with little protest as we trekked though field after field. A couple BALD EAGLES as flyovers and a WILSON'S SNIPE were highlights. And of course there WERE sparrows around with all the expected species- 20+ SWAMP SPARROWS and an AMERICAN TREE SPARROW to finish for the day.
Happy new year!
