Hi all,
I went by HH this afternoon to see if the moorhen was still about. I walked
about 2/3 the way out the middle dike when I saw the bird just offshore in
the large, left impoundment. I watched it at very close range, then watched it
as it crossed the dike in front of me, entered the water and began feeding
along the edge. It called a few times, and then walked off into the "swamp"
towards some small willows.

At Riley's lock a Black-crowned Night-heron and an adult Barred Owl perched
in a tree at eye level.

Prothonotaries at both locations, along with both orioles and Yellow-billed
Cuckoos. A Least Bittern was calling from the swampy impoundment at Hughes
Hollow as well.

Good birding,
Rick Sussman
