A friend in Laurel, MD saw a very unfamiliar warbler passing through today - she said that it looked
like a chickadee, and most closely resembled a Black-throated Gray. Her property is at the end of a
suburban cul-de-sac and is heavily wooded, with a stream running through. She is familiar with
Yellow-rumps and Black and White warblers, and swore that the bird had no yellow on it anywhere, a
distinct black throat and very clean facial markings. No photo, alas, and the bird was probably just
passing through. I see that there's only one record for Maryland from 1995 - is this still within the
realm of possibility? She said she'd keep an eye out for it tomorrow... |
